Why not buy Savings Plans yourself?
You can. It means forecasting years of usage and paying for every hour you don't use. Across a pool of companies, the commitment stays used.
| Buying them yourself | Through the pool | |
|---|---|---|
| Agreement with AWS | A one- or three-year term, in your name | Between AWS and us. None with you |
| Forecasting | Yours to get right | Not needed |
| Hours you don't use | Still paid for | Kept in use across the pool |
| Leaving | The commitment runs to its end | 30 days' notice |

Common questions
What does it cost?
Nothing upfront and no onboarding fee. Our share comes out of the savings, and the 30% discount is what is left for you. The savings analysis states both before you agree to anything. Cloud Saver is part of every plan, the Free plan too.
Which part of the bill does it cover?
Compute on EC2, Fargate and Lambda. Storage, data transfer and the rest of the bill are billed as they are today.
What if our usage drops?
The savings follow your usage down, as they follow it up. You hold no commitment, so there is no unused capacity left for you to pay for.
Can we stop?
Yes, on 30 days' notice. There is no one- or three-year term to run out. That term is ours.
